3 Empresses: the Embodiment of the Mother
Welcome to 3 Cards. Each month I take three tarot cards and look at how different decks bring in different meanings. That’s one of the things I love about tarot is how the creators play with themes and variations and we aim to explore that in this series.
The Empress – Animalis os Fortuna
This deck uses a lioness roaring at the moon to show the power of this card. She is the mother eternal here in this deck doing what she needs to for the survival of her children and her pride. She’s not afraid to stand her ground and protect what she needs to. She is also not afraid to show tenderness and care to her off spring. The Empress brings in a balance of fierceness tempered by kindness and love. She has no problem being one or the other or all of it if needed. The Empress sees what needs to be done and she sees that it is accomplished.
Thought Prompts
How can you bring this balance of fierce and tenderness into your life? How can you accomplish what needs to happen? Can it involve helpers?
The Empress – Mythic Tarot 80’s version
So much bounty is embodied in and around her, she is fecund. This card features Demeter as the sacred mother of all that is born or sprouted into this world. She brings abundance as she walks and surrounds here self with grain, poppies, the treasures of life. The abundance aspect comes out strong in this card she brings this into any reading this card shows up in. Her willingness to produce, grow, gestate is something to consider and bring into your life.
Thought Prompts
What does giving mean to you? How much can you give before you become depleted? Where do you want to feel this fecund abundance?
The Empress – Starchild Akashic Tarot
I am all that you need, it is here in my hands all you need to do is reach out for it. It is yours for the taking the Universe will provide me more, much more than you can take. She’s reminder that we limit what we dream about growing. She reminds us no matter how much we ask of the Universe it can handle it. It can handle the requests for manifestation, for composting of old emotions long worn out, and so much more. It is you who most often limits what can happen. How can you feel this feeling of there is so much out there you don’t need to worry.
Thought Prompts
What feels as if there is never enough? How can you change you mindset around this? How would life feel if you knew to the very core of your being that it can happen?
