3 Justice: Interpreting Tarot

Welcome to 3 Cards. Each month I take three tarot cards and look at how different decks bring in different meanings. That’s one of the things I love about tarot is how the creators play with themes and variations and we aim to explore that in this series.

3 Justice: Interpreting Tarot

I much prefer the Thoth variation of Adjustment over Justice, justice is a loaded word at least in English. It feels outside of you and not something that you are part of or that is easily applied to your life. Adjustment reminds me to keep tweaking my life, to keep working magick on me, to keep on fine tuning. It is much easier to get your thoughts around. But most decks use the RWS variation of Justice so here we are with them.

Justice

There are two bones loosely bound together balancing a scale. The feel here for me is that we try to hold onto rigid concepts and bind them together to create some form of balance in life. That you don’t have to bind it so tightly to create this in your life. That you can be just and free form in that justice. You only need to ease up on your grip of things to bring balance into your like. Don’t get so caught up in making it static and unchanging.

Where do you try to bind things too tight? How does this impact your energetic systems and balances?

Mythic Tarot the 80’s version
Justice

This is what we would expect from a deck that is based in Greek mythic systems. Athena is featured in this deck with her sword and owl of wisdom. The floor is black and white checkered board. She is sitting in judgement of what has happened. She wants to know if you put your logic and knowledge to work? Athena can help yo cut through illusions to see what is true and real in your life. She’s not concerned how you feel about your illusions being cut away or how you feel. Her concern is the logic of it, the truth underneath it all.

Thought Prompt
How can Justice harm when there is no compassion to it? Where do you need to bring in logic and cut through illusion?

Starchild Akashic Tarot
Justice

This has the feeling of a gift. The gift of Justice for your life to empower you, to change what needs to be changed. This Justice is not going to bind you or pull the rug out from underneath you. She’s going to help you find the tools you need to do this yourself. She will be right at your side whispering to you but she expects you to walk willingly into Justice and discover what it is to you. It implies a bringing in of this into you, into self. To empower and create a flowing balance in your life.

Where do you need to accept this gift of balance? How can steeping willingly into Justice change you?
