3 Card Interpreting the Tarot, Three Tarot Cards

3 Lovers: Bringing in the Union of Self Choosing Love

3 Lovers:

Bringing in the Union of Self Choosing Love

Welcome to 3 Cards. Each month I take three tarot cards and look at how different decks bring in different meanings. That’s one of the things I love about tarot is how the creators play with themes and variations and we aim to explore that in this series.

3 Lovers: Bringing in the Union of Self Choosing Love

I did not plan to end this years 3 Cards on my current year card. If I’d have planned this it would have went way off course. The Lovers is a subtle and deep card when it comes down too it. The aspect of Union and allowing self love and care in has been a large part of it for me this year. It has also been an interesting journey working with this card while mourning my father’s death. That has put a different spin on it for me.

But these three cards are very different from each other and really bring in very different feelings and meanings to them.

Enjoy.

The Lovers: Animalis Os Fortuna

This card features two wolves howling at the moon. There is a strong connection here between the wolves as on is make and one is female and wolves mate for life. The question it asks me is what are you not truly committing to? What is it you say you want to do and never do? It is a card of making the choice to commit and to keep making the choices that keep that commitment healthy and aligned with you. This Lovers brings in the Union aspect for me and a strong sense of creating that Union by the choices you make.

Thought Prompt:
How do your actions and choices align? Are they similar? Do you act on the choices you make and follow through?

The Lovers: The Mythic Tarot 80s version

This version has always says to me “I am so screwed.” You see that’s Paris holding the Golden Apple of Discord and he’s supposed to pick the Goddess that is the most Beautiful. Paris has no good choices to make, no matter what he does two Goddesses are going to be so pissed at him. He has no good choices so he makes the best one he can and picks love. Things may not be going how we want them and we can’t find a way out quickly but we can start working towards it.

Thought Prompt
What would the perfect choice be for you? How can you start making choices to get there? Are you in for the long haul or the short term?

Starchild Akashic Tarot

This is one of those cards that I have a hard time connecting with until I start digging deeper into it. The picture is pretty but the dogs seem more into each other than the guy and gal. Then you take a step deeper and see the halo around their heads forms an Viseca Pisces, the foundation of all life. Now this changes the whole feel and brings in the basic foundation of how you want to create your life, your love. What joins and divides over and over to create you? This Lovers becomes about creation and the base of that creation. That subtle Viseca Pisces takes his card onto the Soul level and creating and dividing (think cells and growth) that ripples far into the future and past.

Thought Prompt
What do you want to grow in your life and in your love? How do you want this growth to show up and how do you want to show up in it? How does this division take place in you?

I’ll see you in January with the next installment of 3 Cards.
