3 Wheels of Fortune: Interpreting Tarot

3 Wheels of Fortune: Interpreting Tarot

Welcome to 3 Cards. Each month I take three tarot cards and look at how different decks bring in different meanings. That’s one of the things I love about tarot is how the creators play with themes and variations and we aim to explore that in this series.

3 Wheels of Fortune: Interpreting Tarot

Turns out none of these cards feature the usual Rider-Wait-Smith imagery of the Wheel of Fortune, taking people up and casting them down. That one has a very strong feel of riding the wave if you will. That you ride the up and you use that down turn to regroup, rinse and repeat.

Animalis Os Fortuna
Wheel of Fortune

This is one of my more favorite Wheels the use of the snake skeleton really speaks to me. But then I also work with Snake. The Sun and the Moon is also featured in this deck. The feel here for me is one of completion and of wholeness. It lacks the up/down energy that many Wheel of Fortunes have. It feels that you are coming full circle and are ready to move to the next step. There is more of and even keel flow here for me.

Can you flow with the cahnges in your life? Do you see any cycles that keep you going in circles?

Mythic Tarot 80’s version
Wheel of Fortune

This also another fav of this card. It has more of the up/down energy that you usually see in the Wheel. This deck features the Fates: Clotho the Spinner, Lachesis the Allotter, and Atropos the Unturnable. Which makes a lot of sense as this deck uses Greek myth as its base. They are the ladies who determine your life. They spin you into being and determine you destiny, until finally they decide you are done. There is less control to their Wheel then one sees in a Rider-Waite-Smith based deck. You must learn to work inside of your fate and what is.

Who is in control of your fate? Are you creating your life or letting others do that for you?

Starchild Akashic Tarot
Wheel of Fortune

This deck features a woman who seems to be gazing to her future and rather deep in thought about whatever is going on for her. But it is the background that entrances me. The web of sacred geometry that reminds you of your connection to all that is. It is a reminder that you are connected to everything and are of the stars. You are capable of knowing what needs to happen in the moment and beyond. Intuition can speed you on your way if you are willing to trust it and yourself.
