3 Card Interpreting the Tarot

Three Hierophants: The Bearer of Knowledge

Three Hierophants: The Bearer of Knowledge

Welcome to 3 Cards. Each month I take three tarot cards and look at how different decks bring in different meanings. That’s one of the things I love about tarot is how the creators play with themes and variations and we aim to explore that in this series.

Three Hierophants: The Bearer of Knowledge

Just realized that none of these are a traditional Hierophant who often looks a lot like a priest. I love the branching out that’s happening in Tarot and the playing with concept that expands how you see a card. This expansion is so needed with this card as it often brings up rigidity and dogma. Yoda is a wonderful example of this Hierophant he teachers, he pushes boundaries, and most of all he let’s you learn and make your own choices.

The Hierophant – Animalis Os Fortuna

Horses are incredibly intuitive creatures they pick up on moods and emotions very quickly. They will also take advantage of those emotions. If you are afraid they know it. Happy they know it. This Hierophant is one of intuition and learning how to bring that intuition into your life without dogma and doctrine. This ability to intuit is the tether for you and this card is a call to figure out how you deal with your intuition. This is the tether that let’s you figure out how being an empath or highly sensitive person works for you.

Thought Prompt
How can you use this card without the dogma and doctrine that the Hierophant often evokes? What can intuition do for you and how can you trust it?

The Hierophant – The Mythic Tarot 80’s version

Chiron represents the Hierophant in this deck. He is a teacher and healer, he’s offering you the healing of the soul if only you will step into the dark cave behind him. Not all that lives in the dark should be feared. The monsters of self need to be known and Chiron offers this healing but only if you invite him in. He’s not going to force his knowledge on you, he will teach you but it is up to you to do what you will with that learning. A willingness to step into the dark in order to know puts me in mind of Yoda and Luke. Luke goes down into the cave but he’s not ready to face himself yet for that is all that is in the cave. Yoda let’s Luke make his own choices.

Thought Prompt
How do you use your learning to make choices? How does it feel when knowledge is forced on you compared to offered?

The Hierophant – Starchild Akashic Tarot

This is yours all you need to do is to know it and to believe it with everything you are. She offers the gifts of the soul for you to pluck out of her hand. The gift of knowing you and who you are. She will not force this knowing on you if you are not ready as that will not work. She knows that she can offer and guide, tell, convey, but never force. Force she knows will shut down the gift she has for you. This force can be teachers who speak in absolutes, yourself and the thought not good enough, or societal norms. She calls you to leave behind that which cuts you off from you and weakens your connection to the soul and the Universe.
