Why should you art journal even if you aren’t an artist?

Why should you art journal even if you aren’t an artist?

Symbols are powerful creatures and art journaling will help you connect with your symbols much faster then any form of written journaling. Pictures are understood on a more instinctual level then words.

Why should you art journal even if you aren’t an artist?

It pulls all your knowledge together into one bundle that you can use to create yourself from. Art journaling uses your knowledge and how you work in the world along with your family stories and culture too.

Find your Themes more quickly

Art journaling gives you a place to connect to all of you. Art creates symbols for you to understand and use in your life. It will help you know what signs and energies you are working with more quickly. This happens because you will gravitate to certain pictures. You will know what’s happening faster then if you weren’t using a visual.

Down Time

It is fun to do and gives you a break from your day. That means you will feel better about you and life in general simply because you did something fun. All you need is some pictures and a glue stick to get started. That’s how I started the picture for Illuminate & Activate 2020. I ran out of glue stick and had to use something else. Not technically an art journal page but it comes out of that practice.

Spell Work and Manifestation

Art Journals are a great place to bring in spell work and manifestation. They can add a potent layer to creating your life and bringing in energies. You can come back and visit with your art journal page when you need to be reminded of what you are working on. This page was created for the Lion’s Gate 2018. It reminds me to be empowered in all I do.

Work out challenging emotions

This is my go to when I need to work out some emotions good or bad. It gets it our in a constructive manner and you will feel better if you are being challenged. My favorite way is to write on the first layer. Let it pour out and not censor it. It may not make a ton of sense but you want it out. Then cover it up with something meaningful and beautiful.

Enhance your intuition

It is easy to get lost in the act of creation and move into a trance like state that brings you more in touch with you. Letting your ego take a break and connecting to what’s going on without a filter is powerful. Art Journaling can transport you to other places inside of you and get you more in touch with your intuition.

I use all of the above in my art journaling practice. When I am more there for it my life tends to go more smoothly. Art journaling also helps me to know where I am and find what I need. Give it a try and find out where it takes you.
